Fall is in the air which means it's time to get outside, enjoy the colours and the crisp air, and go on fun adventures. Not sure which destination to check out next? No worries, I've got you covered! Read on to discover the top three places on my bucket list for this fall and winter.
Apple picking has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Personally, I like to skip the crowds which is why Domaine Cléroux is my go-to spot! It's located in Casselman, Ontario, in the beautiful countryside just 30 minutes outside the city of Ottawa. My personal favourite apple to pick is Honeycrisp, but they also grow many other kinds such as Lobo, Cortland, and McIntosh. This quintessential orchard also has an incredible bakery and gift shop - a must stop to snag a tasty treat before the drive home. If you're looking for something laidback and fun for the whole family, I would definitely recommend checking out Domaine Cléroux for your next apple picking excursion!

Go back in time at Upper Canada Village. I've visited this family friendly spot since I was a child with both my family and elementary school. Pro-tip: it also makes for a romantic date night with your significant other! Right now, they have their Pumpkinferno event taking place until October 31. This is an awesome activity for fall. Get ready to take a stroll through the village at night which is fully lit up with over 7,000 hand carved pumpkins that portray beautiful historic scenes. They also have a great restaurant called The Willard's Hotel that you can stop at to warm up and enjoy a hearty meal. Intrigued? Be sure to book tickets in advance before the event comes to a close on Halloween night.
Missed out on Pumpkinferno? No worries, Upper Canada Village has got you covered with their next event, Alight at Night, which takes place in December and January leading up to and over the holiday season. This is the perfect activity to get you in the holiday spirit! As much as I love Pumpkinferno, I must say Alight at Night is my personal favourite. The entire village comes to life as trees and buildings are decorated in over one million lights which is truly a breathtaking view. I would also recommend getting a hot chocolate and delicious gingerbread cookie and booking a ride on the village train or horse and carriage for the full holiday magic experience.
Check out the Upper Canada Village website for more details and to plan a trip today! Also check out their Instagram for more beautiful pictures of the village.

Call me an old soul, but I love watching plays and celebrating the magic that is the arts. I've had the opportunity to see several plays at Upper Canada Playhouse, including Anne of Green Gables, Miracle on 34th Street, and A Christmas Carol. These plays - and the local actors and crew that bring the shows to life - never disappoint! If you are a lover of the arts like me and favour the warmer venues during these upcoming chilly months, I would recommend going to see a play at Upper Canada Playhouse. Tip: make sure you plan in advance as tickets tend to sell out fast.

Surprise! I thought I would include one more location to the list. This past August, I had the most amazing time at the pilot year of Fields of Gold, a 30-acre sunflower field perfect for the Instagram enthusiast. Although closed for the 2021 season, I thought I would include this spot on my list for you to keep in mind for 2022. Get excited to not only take a stroll through the breathtaking sunflowers, but Fields of Gold will also be introducing a corn maze, sunny honey, and a pumpkin patch next year! If you're looking for a spot to take your family's annual photos, this is also a great location to do so!
Check out their Instagram and website to stay up to date on 2022 news and opening dates.
